iPhone Duo refit

Get your app Duo ready.

Apps built before the iOS 27.1 SDK open in a small box on the Duo’s inner display. We rebuild, test and resubmit yours for a fixed price, in five business days.

What the Duo does to your app

iPhone Duo shipped on October 23, 2026 with a 7.6-inch inner display. Apps built with an older SDK don’t fill it. They run centred in black space, and on a $1,999 phone that is hard to miss.

How Apple treats each build

  1. Built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier: letterboxed, a small window with empty space around it.
  2. Built with the iOS 27 SDK: fills most of the display but stops short of the edges.
  3. Built with the iOS 27.1 SDK: edge to edge, with layouts that adapt as the phone folds.

The badge

Submit Duo screenshots and Apple adds an “optimized for iPhone Duo” badge to your App Store page. Apps without it now sit beside competitors that have it.

The deadline

From April 2027, App Store Connect requires the iOS 27 SDK and iPhone Duo screenshots on every new app and every update. After that, an app that hasn’t been rebuilt can’t ship so much as a bug fix.

Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run on iPhone Duo, but won’t adapt to all layouts. When the device is open, your app will appear in the center of the display, with empty space surrounding the window.

Three fixed prices

Every tier is a fixed price with a fixed turnaround, done by the two senior engineers you talk to. If your app still doesn’t fill the inner display when we’re done, you pay nothing.

Duo Ready — $1,500 — 5 business days

For apps that work fine and just need to fill the screen.

  • Rebuild on Xcode 27.1 and the iOS 27.1 SDK
  • Fix build and deprecation breaks
  • Remove the layout assumptions that cause letterboxing
  • Test all six Duo states: outer, inner and half-open, in portrait and landscape
  • Duo screenshots and App Store submission

Duo Adapted — $4,500 — 2 weeks

For apps whose layouts break on the near-square display.

  • Everything in Duo Ready
  • Size classes instead of orientation checks
  • Safe areas and the right-edge status bar
  • Sheets, tab bar and navigation fixed for the inner display
  • State preserved when the phone folds mid-task
  • QA on a physical iPhone Duo

Duo Redesigned — from $9,000 — 3 to 4 weeks

For apps that should feel built for the fold.

  • Everything in Duo Adapted
  • A two-pane layout for your key flow: list and detail, menu and order, map and list
  • Split View support
  • Screenshots and App Store copy that sell the Duo version

Fill the screen or it’s free. Prices are for one iOS app with source access. Multi-app and agency pricing on request.

How we compare

Market figures as of October 2026. Budget services rebuild your app against the new SDK and stop there. Agencies bill by the hour and route the work through a team.

How it works

Four steps, one point of contact, no surprises.

  1. Send your App Store link

We check how your app is built and reply within one business day with the tier it needs and a fixed quote.

  2. Give us access

Source code and App Store Connect access, under NDA if you like. Nothing changes in your account without your approval.

  3. We rebuild and test

Rebuilt on the iOS 27.1 SDK and tested in every fold state. You get a build to try before anything ships.

  4. We submit

Duo screenshots, release notes and the App Store submission, handled. You approve the release.

Questions

Does my app really have this problem?
If its current version shipped before October 5, 2026, almost certainly. Apple only began accepting iOS 27.1 builds that day. Send the link and we’ll confirm.
We don’t have a Duo. Does it still matter?
Your customers will. And from April 2027 the rebuild is required for any App Store update, Duo users or not.
Our app is React Native or Flutter.
Same problem, same fix. The iOS build still has to be produced with the new SDK, and the layouts still have to adapt.
Do you need our source code?
Yes. A refit without source isn’t possible. We work from your repository and hand everything back.
Our original developer is gone.
That describes most of the apps we see. We recover the project, bring the build up to date and document it so you’re not stuck again.

Send us your App Store link. We’ll tell you what your app needs within one business day.
